ADHD and neurodiversity rarely travel alone. Anxiety, depression, PTSD and OCD often come along with them – sometimes diagnosed, often missed underneath.
We assess these conditions as part of the bigger picture for neurodivergent adults, with psychiatrists who understand how they interact with ADHD and autism. The assessment gives you a clear diagnosis and care plan your GP and ongoing care team can work from.
If you’re already considering an ADHD or autism assessment and these are part of what’s going on, you’re in the right place for a psychiatric assessment.
Most of what we see falls into these areas:
Anxiety
generalised, social, or specific.
Depression
including the low mood that often shadows ADHD.
PTSD and complex trauma
including trauma-related concerns.
OCD
including intrusive thinking patterns.
Sleep difficulties
which often sit underneath or alongside other concerns.
We focus on adults, and on the cross-overs between these conditions and ADHD or autism. Anxiety and depression assessment can be particularly useful when symptoms overlap with ADHD or other forms of neurodiversity.
Many people with anxiety or depression also have undiagnosed ADHD underneath. Looking at one condition while another goes unnoticed can miss what’s actually going on.
When we assess, we look at the whole picture: how the conditions interact, what came first, and what’s actually driving day-to-day life. That gives you a clearer diagnosis and care plan that fits your circumstances.
Psychologists and psychiatrists support mental health in different ways. A psychiatrist is a medical specialist who can provide psychiatric assessment and diagnosis, while psychologists commonly provide therapy and ongoing psychological support.
We see adults by telehealth across Australia. A GP referral may allow eligible patients to claim Medicare rebates on appointments.
After an initial appointment with our team to talk through your history, you’ll see a psychiatrist for a full assessment. You’ll receive a care plan that guides your referring GP, and you can continue with our Psychology team or your existing care team for ongoing therapy and support.
A psychiatric assessment looks at your symptoms, personal history, current concerns and how they affect everyday life. It can help clarify whether anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, autism or overlapping concerns may be contributing to what you’re experiencing.
If anxiety, depression or other conditions have been part of your story for a while, a psychiatric assessment is a good way to look at what’s actually going on.
We assess anxiety, depression, PTSD and OCD where they intersect with ADHD or autism, and where a specialist eye is useful. You’ll receive a clinical letter with the diagnosis and care plan your GP practice can work from.
