ADHD Assessment Australia

A proper ADHD assessment gives you a clear diagnosis, an answer to what’s been going on, and a plan you can actually use.
We assess adults by telehealth across Australia, with RANZCP-registered psychiatrists. As a practice we’ve completed more than 8,000 ADHD assessments.
If you’ve been wondering about it for a while, this is the place to start. Our ADHD assessment process is designed to give you clear answers and practical next steps.

What an ADHD Assessment with Us Looks Like

An assessment is a conversation with a clinician who knows what to look for. We go through your history, how you focus, what you struggle with, and what’s brought you here now.
The process ends with a clear yes or no, and a care plan tailored to your situation if you do have ADHD.
We assess adults, including women who’ve never been picked up before, and people whose ADHD comes alongside other things like anxiety, autism (AuDHD) or hormonal patterns.

How it works

A written report with your diagnosis, care plan and clear next steps.

What Happens Next After Your ADHD Assessment?

What happens next can depend on where you are and the care pathway that applies to you.
  • For most patients, your referring GP is responsible for managing your ongoing care.
  • For patients in South Australia, our Care Centre in Adelaide can assist with ongoing care and access to our psychiatrists.
  • In New South Wales and Western Australia, the next steps can differ because state requirements apply. We will explain the relevant pathway and coordinate with your GP.
Most people complete the ADHD assessment within a few weeks of booking.

ADHD Assessment Cost and Medicare

Our ADHD assessment is $1,280 upfront, which covers both appointments. The alternative is two payments of $675 ($1,350 total) or 3 payments of $450 each.
With a valid GP referral, Medicare provides a one-off rebate of around $467.45 for eligible patients after your psychiatry appointment, which can reduce your out-of-pocket cost.

Ready to Get Started with an ADHD Assessment?

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you book. That’s what the ADHD assessment is for.

Are You a GP Referring for ADHD Assessment?

A standard psychiatry referral letter is all we need. You’ll receive a full clinical letter back covering the diagnostic outcome, any comorbidities, and recommended next steps.

Your appointments take place online, so you can speak with your psychiatrist from home. You’ll receive the booking and appointment details after your referral is received.

Common signs can include difficulty with focus, organisation, time management, remembering tasks and staying on track. ADHD can also affect emotional regulation, motivation and everyday functioning.

An ADHD test or symptom quiz can help identify possible signs of ADHD, while a clinical ADHD assessment is a more comprehensive process used to determine whether ADHD can be diagnosed.
